Prometheus‘ Heir / by Monika Zöhrer, Klaus Seewald & Eva Wallensteiner

ABOUT

… so imagine you are Prometheus. You are chained to a rock on top of a desolate mountain in the middle east. There are occasional helicopters, distant explosions …

Images of birth, questions of being and death are interwoven together in this performance. They tell more than just the plot of the myth from a contemporary point of view. The production evolves at the edge of theatre and dance. It is the quest of the individual for her/his place in todays world. PROMETHEUS’ HEIR invokes a world where Aischylos, Beckett, Frisch and Huxley raise their voices and where you get a gimpse of Science Fiction.

The performance asks questions about the responsibility of the individual, control through higher powers, helplessness and the attempt of liberation. It considers
the theme despite its sincerity with a smile.

REVIEWS

BEAUTIFUL THREATENING WORLD
Prometheus’ Heir investigates questions of being.

GRAZ. Seldom the fabric of plastic fascinates as much as in the newly devised work „Prometheus’ Heir“ of Theater Feuerblau: as rustling cocoon, majestic shell and waving dunes.

Skillfully deals Klaus Seewald with the synthetic material and invokes an associative human image of birth, questions of life and death (stage design: Lisa Horvath). The search for meaning in an endangered world (with texts by Aischylos, Beckett, Frisch and Huxley) is the aim of director Monika Zöhrer. The fire-bringer triggered more curse than blessing. Even the factory of humans – that reminds of Ridley Scotts science-fiction-film „Prometheus“ – is screened by video and merely a matter of time.

PROMETHEUS’ HEIR IS SEARCHING FOR ITS PLACE
Theater Feuerblau deals with the myth around the bearer of fire and culture in its recent production „Prometheus’ Heir“. But performer Klaus Seewald tells – directed by Monika Zöhrer – much more than just an old story from a contemporary point of view. It is the performative quest of the individual for her/his place in todays world.
