mission statement

Theater Feuerblau realizes contemporary, challenging and professional theatre. Theater Feuerblau performs for adults and young audience.
Monika Zöhrer and Klaus Seewald produce theatre since 1995. Their theatre productions toured through Austria, Albania, Germany, United Kingdom, Japan, Romania and Russia.

In terms of content we focus on the human being and her/his questions in terms of desires and passions and her/his hunger for life. Our theatre performances are critical of society: the theatre as a space to experience the many layers of the human being.

Our theatrical language combines the body, objects, puppet theatre, dance and music in order to create a holistic experience in theatre. We attempt to get rid of the separation between stage and auditorium. This is true for all our productions. We want to produce a theatre that is poetic and critical of society and at the same
time entertain our audience.

Our theatrical language is shaped by our study trips to India. We learned Kalarippayattu (a south Indian martial- and movement art) as well as Kathakali (south Indian dance). Furthermore our work is inspired by the work with Butoh choreographers Moe Yamamoto (Kanazawa Butoh Kan, JP) and Yumiko Yoshioka (JP/DE) as well as the studies and collaborations with professor, author and director Philip Zarrilli (USA/UK).

We have taught our training (Kalarippayattu as training for performer) in workshops eg. at TanzQuartier/Vienna; Institut for Theatre Science/Vienna; Lalish Theaterlabor/
Vienna; University of Exeter (GB), University College/Cork (Ireland), Academia e Arteve/Tirana (Albania), Theatre Training and Research Program (Singapure) and for
IMPACT/Toronto (Canada).
